Hi guys welcome back to my blog 🙂 It’s nice to see you all back here! Today I thought I would share with you a slight insight into my life and what I got up to during London fashion week.

My first event I went to was the Pure London trade show.

My first impressions of the pure London trade show was that I found it very overwhelming but a good overwhelming, I would class it more as excitement!

The vast stalls that was located across the building was endless, it was one after another of some fantastic small businesses trying to show case their work. Many of the stalls I went past had some fabulous collections from some very talented and creative designers. There was so much culture in this one room all expressed through fashion, whether it ranged from the stalls to catwalks to the talks it was showed in every form possible.

I found that going to this event was very interesting I learnt a lot more about styling, why certain designers chose to produce their work in the way they’ve made, I learnt more on trends and sustainability in the fashion industry. Going to this event taught me more about the fashion industry from a different perspective and I recommend that if another pure London trade show comes up again then I urge you to attend to one.

On February 13th I went to a talk in Greenwich about colours and how they are used in the fashion industry. When I attended this event I learnt 3 different aspects about how colour is used by 3 individuals that had various styles, methods and approaches.

The first individual that talked about colour focused more on the functional/ purpose of it. This representative showed us what she believed to be used best when styling and designing certain garments and when the certain colours should be used for appropriate reasonings such as whether they fit in with the season.

The second representative that then spoke focused more directly on key colour trends. She discussed heavily on what we were to be expecting and explaining why we will be seeing these certain colours used in clothing seen on the catwalk and in high street stores. The individual talked in-depth about the different shades that were accessible and why they were important in the industry as having the right shade used on certain garments is key because the lighting when making the items has an effect on the shades on the material so its essential to be the right colour.

The last representative that then spoke was a student that had just recently graduated from studying fashion design. She explained colour in a different approach to the other two as she showed us her work and why she stuck to a certain colour palette and explained what those colour’s meant to her and why she always used them in her work. She focused more on a colours meaning to an individual and why its essential to be used correctly.

Overall after attending this event I thought that it was actually very interesting and taught me more than I expected it to. I learnt a new understanding about colour and that its not all that the eye perceives it to be. I would recommend you to go to one of these talks if there is another opportunity to go!
